Alberta’s story is as diverse and varied as its people. Watch Albertans tell their stories of living and working in Alberta. See why Alberta is a place like no other in the world.

Alberta hosts the world. Before the world turns its attention to the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, it was watching Alberta -- host to seven world cup events this winter:

  • Alberta's spirit of sport
The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games may be over, but the spirit continues. Cross-country competitors -- and some former medalists -- Beckie Scott, Madeline Williams, Sara Renner and Chandra Crawford tell us about the ongoing drive to inspire new athletes and the supportive community they find here in Alberta.
  • Alberta's Winter Olympic Legacy -- at the FIS World Cup in Lake Louise
  • "The facilities are magnets for some of the best sportspeople in the world -- high performance sports experts that come to Calgary and support our athletes and our programs," says Alpine Canada Alpin president Gary Allan.

Albertan culture. Albertan arts and recreation are open to the world.

  • Dr. Robert Russell
He infused new cultural life into the small Alberta town of Cardston. He is neither an actor nor a singer, but he is an active patron of the arts. Dr. Robert Russell helped to establish the Carriage House Theatre: a 330 seat facility for live theatre, recitals and other community events.
  • Georgette Reed
More than half of Canada's Winter Olympic team trains, lives in or came from Alberta. Ever wonder why? Besides the incredible facilities we built for the '88 Games in Calgary, we have been attracting -- and keeping -- top trainers. Olympian and coach, Georgette Reed discusses how participating in cultural activities, like sport, helps people grow as individuals and brings communities together.
