Found Love and Family in Alberta!
I moved to Calgary, Alberta in July 1997. (I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Lived most of my 33 yrs up to that point, in Selkirk, MB and Winnipeg, MB). But something in my heart was telling me that I HAD to move to Alberta. So I left my job of 5 yrs, packed up my belongings and drove west. Just two months after I moved, I met the man I have now been with for 12 yrs. We have two beautiful daughters, (9 yrs & 4 yrs). At one point, we tried moving back to Manitoba, when I was pregnant with my second daughter, in 2005. We stayed for three months, at which time I told my partner I couldn't do it. I had fallen in love with Alberta as well, and I realized I couldn't leave it! So we moved back. (We now live in Okotoks).
I can remember a moment after I first moved to Alberta and was driving west. When I saw those mountains, I felt like I was HOME. I still feel that way every time I see them. We love camping in Kananaskis country. We loved visiting the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller. We take any of our visiting family to visit Banff and have enjoyed a gondola ride while there one year. At any moment, we might see a deer (or several) walking on our property or nearby. From the wide open spaces to the majestic mountains, in my opinion, Alberta is the most beautiful place in the world! I may not have been born in Alberta, but I am grateful to it, as I found my LOVE and my FAMILY here. That is why Alberta will always be in MY HEART…
